In the industrial sector, there are many companies that opt for automate welding processes, well, I know optimize work and encourages increased competitiveness of SMEs. In this article we explain in detail what robotic welding consists of and the benefits of integrating it into your company.

In Die Center we are expert welders since 30 years ago. We have a welding robot to provide more precision in our work. In addition, in our team we have qualified and certified personnel to always offer the best quality.

What is an industrial welding robot

A welding robot is an industrial machine programmed by a technician that can carry out electrical welding work fully autonomous. They simulate the movements of a human arm.

Thanks to the robotic welding cells, these machines perform repetitive operations with great precision and speed. For example, in the automotive sector, robotic welding generates a higher performance due to repetitive and long-term productions.

Welding has traditionally always been done manually, which implies a greater number of workers, a lower production rate and a higher error rate. Advances in robotic welding in the last 20 years have revolutionized the industrial sector and companies are increasingly encouraged to integrate them into their templates.

What is a welding robot used for?

The robotic welds help SMEs to face the challenges of the production systems and the needs of the markets. Finding qualified and experienced professionals and being able to ensure their integrity and safety was complicated. Now, with the advent of these machines, the problem has been solved.

The current job of professional welders is to supervise the quality of the robots while they are in charge of carrying out the repetitive processes that lack great value.

However, any company that wishes to integrate robotic welding into its workforce should take into account that these machines need a Ample space to carry out quality work.

 Advantages of integrating robotic welding

  • They adapt to any work position and working conditions.
  • Greater efficiency and quality in processes.
  • Welding times are reduced, so productivity increases.
  • Less manufacturing costs increasing the competitiveness of the company.
  • There are no human errors.
  • Occupational accidents of welding work are avoided.
  • The works are identical with unbeatable precision.
  • They don't get tired of doing repetitive jobs.

Types of robotic welding

Arc welding robot. It is the most common. Produces an electric arc between an electrode and a metallic element that, thanks to the high temperatures it reaches, allows materials to be melted and joined. It is ideal for repetitive processes that require speed.

TIG arc welding robot. A non-combustible tungsten electrode and a metal are used. It is widely used in the automotive sector due to its high precision.

MIG arc welding robot. Gas and a wire are used to fuse the pieces together. Recommended for processes that require high speed.

Resistance welding. It transmits current between two metallic pieces causing a pool of high temperatures in which they melt. It is applied in heat treatments.

Spot welding. By means of current transmission, two pieces are joined. Very useful for small-section parts, such as sheet metal frames in the automotive sector.

Plasma welding. Ionized gas is used to introduce extreme high temperatures.
